Posting Details

The Financial Control Division handles all financial transactions of the agency including travel, purchasing, procurement, grants management, settlement management, reporting and the annual audit.

Why does the job exist?

This position will be responsible for deposits, journal entries; entry and monitoring of purchase orders and vouchers; other routine accounting and auditing functions.

How does it get done?

Responsibilities include completing accounting for deposits; enter general ledger and budget journal entries; processing and monitoring of purchase orders and vouchers; and assist with financial division functions.

Who are the customers?

Agency employees, the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), and vendors interacting with the agency.

Ideal Candidate

Prefer a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and three (3) years of related experience in finance, accounting/auditing; highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks with supervision.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment as some statewide travel maybe required. Employment is subject to criminal background check and is conditional pending results of criminal background check. Be of good moral character and not have been convicted of a felony offense by a court of this state, any other state or the United States

Working Conditions

Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting, including during public meetings and hearings. Must be able to lift 25 lbs, and some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel, including overnight travel, may be required in and out of state.
