Albuquerque, NM – Today, New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas announced that the Office of the Attorney General’s Fraud Recovery Strike Force has reached a settlement with a local company regarding sales of water refining equipment. The settlement brings to an end a lawsuit filed by the Attorney General regarding allegedly unfair sales practices used by the company in New Mexico. The company agreed to pay $300,000 as part of the settlement.

“Our Fraud Recovery Strike Force has recovered $300,000 for New Mexico taxpayers and Universal Water Systems has changed their business practices,” said Attorney General Balderas.

“The Office of the Attorney General’s Fraud Recovery Strike Force will continue to advocate on behalf of taxpayers and recover their funds.”

As part of the settlement, the company, Universal Water Systems, has agreed to halt certain sales practices related to its water refining equipment. The company had already discontinued these practices but agreed to a court order that would prohibit the practices in the future.
