AG Balderas and SOS Toulouse Oliver Partner to Protect New Mexicans’ Right to Vote and Prevent Voter Fraud at Primary Polling Locations across New Mexico

Albuquerque, NM – Today, Attorney General Hector Balderas and New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver announced a partnership aimed at providing additional support to county clerks on Election Day to ensure proper conduct at polling locations around New Mexico. State law provides that upon the request of the Secretary of State, the Attorney General shall assign investigators or lawyers to aid the Secretary of State on Election Day to maintain consistency and uniformity.

“New Mexicans’ right to vote is paramount and the Office of the Attorney General will ensure that right is freely exercised on Election Day,” said Attorney General Balderas. “Our special agents and assistant attorneys general will work diligently with the Office of the Secretary of State and county clerks to ensure proper conduct, and prevent voter fraud, at polling locations across our state on Election Day.”

“I’m determined to protect the integrity of every single vote,” said Secretary of State Toulouse Oliver. “My staff and I will continue working closely with the Attorney General’s office to protect voters’ rights and to make sure any potential improper conduct on Election Day is thoroughly investigated.”

NMOAG special agents and assistant attorneys general will be monitoring polling locations throughout Bernalillo, Dona Ana, Eddy, Grant, Luna, McKinley, Otero, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, San Miguel, Santa Fe, Taos, Torrance and Valencia Counties.
