ALBUQUERQUE, NM— Today, Attorney General Hector Balderas announced the convictions and sentencings of two co-defendants as a result of a multi-agency investigation of prolific criminals in Albuquerque. On November 17, 2021, Janelle Delayo was sentenced to 3 years in the Department of Corrections by Judge James Sanchez of the Thirteenth Judicial District Court following her guilty pleas to felony shoplifting, receipt and transfer of a stolen car and an admission to violating the terms of her probation for an armed robbery conviction. Her associate, Frankie Snyder, was sentenced on October 18, 2021 to 18 months in the Department of Corrections by Judge Stanley Whitaker of the Second Judicial District Court following guilty pleas to charges related to the receipt and transfer of a stolen car and multiple controlled substance offenses.

“Property crimes shatter livelihoods, and these types of criminals have been swept under the rug for years,” said Attorney General Balderas. “My office is grateful to the brave victims for coming forward to assist with these cases and we are committed to bringing justice to those affected by repeat offenders.”

Frankie Snyder has been arrested over a dozen times since 2008 and over four times in the last 6 months. He was convicted, prior to sentencing, of receiving or transferring a stolen motor vehicle and charges related to controlled substances. He will be serving a three year sentence of 18 months in prison followed by 18 months of probation. The victim testified at his sentencing about how the theft of her family’s only vehicle caused thousands of dollars worth of damages and forced them to delay purchasing a home because of the financial burden Snyder caused. Janelle Delayo was on supervised release for an armed robbery conviction in 2019 when she committed multiple felonies in Albuquerque.

The cases, investigated by the New Mexico State Police and the Albuquerque Police Department, were prosecuted by Assistant Attorneys General Jesse Pecoraro and Mark Probasco in collaboration with the 13th Judicial District Attorney as part of an initiative to prosecute high level property and organized retail theft crimes in New Mexico.
