Albuquerque, NM – Today, Attorney General Hector Balderas announced the successful
preventative detention of Joshua Saavedra. Saavedra attempted to solicit sex with a minor, and
was arrested by NMAGO Special Agents after an undercover chat operation, in which an agent
posed as a mother offering her fictional child for sex. Saavedra met at a predetermined location,
where he was apprehended and taken into custody.
“I applaud the court’s decision,” said Attorney General Hector Balderas. “I look forward to
presenting the facts of this case at trial.”
Saavedra admitted to being a foster parent, and is charged with child solicitation by electronic
communication device, child exploitation by prostitution, and trafficking controlled substance.
The New Mexico Office of the Attorney is in contact with the New Mexico Children Youth and
Families Department to ensure the safety of all children involved. He will remain in custody until
trial.
