Albuquerque, NM – Today, Attorney General Hector Balderas secured a second felony conviction against Mark Webb, an Albuquerque man who secretly recorded graphic videos of an underage female in the bathroom. Balderas previously convicted the same man of Voyeurism at trial in 2016, yet the issue of whether Balderas could also go forward on additional charges of manufacturing child pornography in that case remained on appeal. After the Court of Appeals agreed with Balderas’ position on appeal, Webb pleaded guilty today to an additional count of second degree sexual exploitation of children by manufacture.
“This young survivor can now start to heal.” said Attorney General Hector Balderas, “The offender in this case was somebody that she trusted, and her strength and bravery has brought him to justice.”
In January and February of 2013, Webb secretly recorded an underage girl in the bathroom of an Albuquerque residence. After the hidden camera was discovered by the underage victim, an analysis of a computer the defendant used turned up additional videos that the defendant had copied.
As a result of this guilty plea, Webb will face up to 6 more years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections, and will be required to register as a sex offender for life. Sentencing is expected in the next 60-75 days.
