Torrance County, NM – Today, Attorney General Balderas announced that Craig Huppertz of Torrance County was sentenced to nine years in prison and a term of parole between five to twenty years today. Huppertz was sentenced after being convicted of one count of sexual exploitation of child by manufacture. Graphic, sexual images of young children were in Huppertz’s possession at the time of his arrest. Huppertz will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

“Our number one priority is protecting New Mexico’s children from sexual violence and exploitation,” said Attorney General Hector Balderas. “Child pornography is a horrific crime in which children as young as infants are subjected to sexual violence, physical abuse and even bestiality, and the children are re-victimized countless times. I want to thank our Internet Crimes Against Children agents, prosecutors, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department, and the New Mexico State Police for their dedicated work to protect our children from predators like Craig Huppertz.”

This investigation was in conjunction with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department and was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General, Celedonia I. Munoz.

The Office of the Attorney General oversees the New Mexico ICAC Task Force which is a multi-agency network of statewide law enforcement personnel whose mission is to locate, track, and captur Internet child sexual predators and Internet child pornographers. The task force has fully equipped computer labs around the state specifically designed to provide forensic analysis to law enforcement agencies working ICAC cases and special criminal investigations serving all of New Mexico’s 33 counties.
