Albuquerque, NM – Today, New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas announced the 2016 Attorney General Community Summit, Protecting Tomorrow, Today, will focus on two themes: Empowering Women and the State of Our Youth. The two-day summit will bring together experts from around New Mexico and the nation to tackle the toughest issues facing our state. The summit will offer free trainings to the public and breakout sessions for experts in various fields who work to make New Mexico a safer, healthier and more prosperous place. The summit will be held in Old Town at Hotel Albuquerque on June 27th and 28th.
“This Summit will bring together community leaders and experts from across the nation to engage the public on the important topics of empowering women and ensuring that our youth are on a path to success,” said Attorney General Hector Balderas. “Too often, the critical issues facing women and youth, respectively, are ignored because they are difficult to talk about, or make us uncomfortable. This summit will provide a safe space to begin this dialogue, which needs to continue throughout our communities, focused on giving New Mexicans the knowledge, skills and abilities they need to be safe and prosper.”
This event is free to the public and some of the trainings that will be offered include: Women Empowered When Faced with Sexual Violence, The Financial Capability of Women, Ending Sexual Violence on College Campus, Mental Health First Aid, Internet Crimes against Children, Technology: A Tool Not a Weapon, and Youth Homelessness.
