Attorney General Veterans Day Statement; Statewide Veterans Drive Expands to Las Vegas Location

Donations accepted in Alamogordo, Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Las Vegas and Santa Fe through the end of November

Albuquerque, NM – Attorney General Balderas released the following statement today:

“On Veterans Day it is not enough to just thank our veterans, but we must take action bysupporting and advocating for our veterans. Today, the Office of the Attorney General delivered to our partner New Mexico Veterans Integration Centers the first truckload of donations from around the state. The Office of the Attorney General will continue to collect donations in Alamogordo, Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Las Vegas and Santa Fe through the end of November for homeless and transitioning veterans. We owe a great debt to New Mexico veterans.”

“We are excited to assist in any way with as many issues that affect veterans,” said Matt Martinez, KBQL-KMDS-KMDZ-KNMX general manager in Las Vegas. “We are pleased to be working with the Office of the Attorney General to help get our veterans the help they deserve. KBQL-FM 92.7 The Bull is committed to helping veterans and their families as much as we can.”

New Mexico Veterans Integration Centers Program Director and CEO, Elinor Reiners said, “The Veterans Integration Centers (VIC) appreciate Attorney General Balderas’ support in helping us transition homeless veterans to independent living, through generous donations of household items and cleaning products. The VIC staff and veterans thank you for all that you do.”

Donations of bedding, household items and cleaning supplies will be accepted through the end of November. Donations can be dropped off at any Office of the Attorney General or Veterans Integration Centers location in Alamogordo, Albuquerque, Las Cruces and Santa Fe, or KBQLFM radio in Las Vegas.

Donations Needed:

Bedding, sheets, pillows, pillow cases, blankets, towels, cleaning supplies, toiletries, lamps, pots and pans, dishes, silverware, and small kitchen appliances (to include but not limited to the following: microwaves, coffee pots, can openers). To schedule a pick-up/drop-off of larger items such as furniture please call the New Mexico Veterans Integration Centers central office at 505-265-0512.
