Albuquerque, NM – This afternoon, Attorney General Hector Balderas announced that Jeffrey Morrill of Albuquerque was sentenced to two years in prison and four years of supervised probation with lifetime sex offender registration after being convicted at trial of two counts of child exploitation by distribution and one count of child exploitation by possession. Graphic, sexual images of young girls ranging in age from six to ten were in Mr. Morrill’s possession at the time of his arrest. The defendant waived a jury trial and Second Judicial District Judge Zamora found Morrill guilty on the above mentioned counts in December 2016.

“Our number one priority is protecting New Mexico’s children from sexual violence and exploitation,” said Attorney General Balderas. “Child pornography is a horrific crime in which children as young as infants are subjected to sexual violence, physical abuse and even bestiality, and the children are revictimzed countless times. I want to thank our Internet Crimes Against Children agents, prosecutors, and the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department for their dedicated work to protect our children from predators like Jeffrey Morrill.”

This investigation was in conjunction with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department and was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Jennifer Armijo Hughes and Assistant Attorney General Tony Long.

The Office of the Attorney General oversees the New Mexico ICAC Task Force which is a multi-agency network of statewide law enforcement personnel whose mission is to locate, track, and capture Internet child sexual predators and Internet child pornographers. The task force has fully equipped computer labs around the state specifically designed to provide forensic analysis to law enforcement agencies working ICAC cases and special criminal investigations serving all of New Mexico’s 33 counties.
