Raúl Torrez Sworn in as New Mexico’s 32nd Attorney General

Santa Fe, NM – This afternoon Raúl Torrez was officially sworn in as New Mexico’s 32nd Attorney General. Torrez was sworn in by former Court of Appeals Judge, James J. Wechsler, at the State Capitol in Santa Fe.

At a brief ceremony at the Roundhouse, Attorney General Torrez said that it was a privilege to serve as the “people’s lawyer” and reaffirmed his commitment to help build a justice system that serves and protects all New Mexicans.

“We have a solemn obligation to ensure that the needs and interests of the people are placed at the very center of our democracy,” Torrez said. “Our faith in the law derives from its unwavering commitment to include the interest of all and not the favored few. Justice is our North Star and the guiding principle of a free people.”

Torrez, after taking his oath, appointed his new leadership team; James Grayson, Chief Deputy Attorney General, Carla Martinez, Chief Administrative Officer, Taylor Bui, Chief of Staff and Adolfo Mendez, Special Counsel.
