“In the pursuit of justice for Officer Ferguson, it has come to our attention that the alleged perpetrator was recently released from custody, despite the local DA’s unwavering attempts to detain this individual. We owe it to Officer Ferguson, and all law enforcement personnel, to enact common sense legislation for repeat offenders like this.
I will continue to advocate for a more just system that keeps dangerous, repeat individuals detained until their day in court. We must ensure that such an incident never happens again and that those who threaten the safety of our community are held accountable.”
