This training emphasizes the importance of transparency and compliance in government and informs the public of their rights of under New Mexico’s Sunshine Laws. The training is offered at no cost and is open to all interested officials and employees of state and local governments, school boards, and public bodies, as well as the media and general public.

Trainings will be divided into a morning session and afternoon session as follows: 

• 8:50 AM Check-In
• 9:00 AM Introduction to Government Transparency 
• 9:15 AM Open Meetings Act and Public Meetings
• 10:45 AM Overview of the Governmental Conduct Act and Related Accountability Laws 
• 11:00 AM Questions and Break 
• 11:15 AM Inspection of Public Records Act 
• 12:45 PM Questions and Closing

Registration for the training is required. A remote attendance option is available to those who are unable to attend in person.
