Job Description:

The New Mexico Department of Justice is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Program Coordinator within the Communications Division. The coordinator will play a crucial role in organizing and executing outreach events across the state, with a focus on engaging schools, parents, and students in discussions and presentations related to important safety and social justice topics. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by facilitating dialogue, raising awareness, and empowering communities through education and advocacy. 

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute outreach events, including round table discussions, presentations, and workshops, in collaboration with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders. 
  • Develop and customize content and materials for presentations and discussions, ensuring relevance and effectiveness for diverse audiences. 
  • Engage with schools across New Mexico to schedule and coordinate outreach activities, including visits and presentations to students, parents, teachers, and administrators. 
  • Facilitate round table discussions and other interactive sessions to encourage dialogue, exchange ideas, and address concerns related to social justice issues, and community resources. 
  • Deliver presentations to educate and empower parents and students on topics such as civil rights, youth rights, internet safety, and conflict resolution. 
  • Assist in the evaluation and assessment of outreach efforts, collecting feedback and data to measure impact and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to identify opportunities for outreach and develop strategies to reach target audiences effectively. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, communications, or a related field. 
  • 2 years of experience in event planning, community outreach, education, or related areas preferred. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and connect with diverse audiences. 
  • Creativity and innovation in developing engaging content and materials for presentations and discussions. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and circumstances. 
  • Commitment to social justice, equity, and community engagement.
