Attorney General Balderas Secures Felony Plea in Albuquerque Embezzlement Case

Albuquerque, NM—Today, Attorney General Hector Balderas secured a guilty plea in a case
involving an embezzlement from an Albuquerque small business. Mica Tyler plead to a second
degree felony for stealing over $100,000 from Toyomasters while acting as its bookkeeper.
“Small businesses are the backbone of New Mexico’s economy, and we must protect them from
fraud and abuse so that they can prosper and continue their valuable contributions to our
communities,” said Attorney General Balderas. “I am very pleased that our office was able to
secure justice for the victims in this case.”
Ms. Tyler is facing up to 3 years in custody at sentencing. The victim has spent the last 5 years
paying backs debts owed by the company as a result of this theft. As part of her plea, Ms Tyler
will pay restitution to the victim, and the case will go to sentencing on January 27, 2020
