ALBUQUERQUE — Today, New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas announced that Thirteenth Judicial District Court Judge Christopher Perez sentenced Davina Quintana to three years in the Department of Corrections. Quintana pled guilty earlier this month to eleven counts involving shoplifting, conspiracy and aggravated assault in both Albuquerque and Rio Rancho.
“Organized retail crime has rapidly increased across New Mexico, and today’s sentence is a step in the right direction to stop these dangerous repeat offenders,” said Attorney General Balderas.
In a crime spree from 2020 to 2022, in both Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, Quintana stole thousands of dollars of merchandise from stores including Target, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Kohl’s. In one incident in Albuquerque, Quintana threatened a store employee with scissors when the employee attempted to stop Quintana. Quintana and a co-conspirator would then resell the stolen merchandise for profit.
These cases were investigated in a collaborative operation by the Rio Rancho Police Department, the Albuquerque Police Department, and the New Mexico Office of the Attorney General. These cases were investigated by the Special Investigation Division of the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Jesse Pecoraro.
